p.s. I must say I do like numbers almost as much as a Chinese accountant, but you people assign such great importance.. wow.
The KLF are a lot more than just music. There's a whole mythology attached. The core they base it all on is the Illuminatus Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson. A unique read, provided you can make it past the first 300 pages. -paul
The book BTW is on my ftp. Also remember the "Mu" books by Colonel James Churchyard. Not Illuminati, but Atlantis-related. I've got the first one, called "The Lost Continent of Mu". From: Paul Yearley It's slighly more clear if you read it more than once (i've gotten through the trilogy twice myself, and have recently acquired my dad's copies of the Schroedinger's Cat trilogy, which I need to get around to). The second time around, you can think less about the narrative itself, and better sort out how the whole thing is organized. The first time through Illuminatus!, to me, was like watching a subtitled movie: I find myself reading the movie, and missing out on subtle visual elements-- with Illuminatus, I spent so much mental energy just trying to keep the whole thing sorted out that I missed a lot of the book. -------------------------------- For a primer on the subtextual and factual stuff in Illuminatus, skip the phat triology and read RAW's non-fiction work, 'Cosmic Trigger'. http://www.rawilson.com/trigger1.shtml The John Thompson illustrations therein are wonderful. Yeah...tell me about it;-) I don't know if any of you are involved but I do occasionally go to those bookcrossing events (see bookcrossing.com for the idea), usually to pick up birds and/or the odd pair of socks and mischievously I decided to float Illuminatus on two occasions. Well it came back pretty quick and didn't join the well-documented floaters which have made it to Botswana or wherever. What's more, several readers subsequently had symptoms of advanced derangement including myself (as fellow KLF listees will confirm). But it's not all bad as most readers experienced stronger orgasms and were inspired to unusual sexual practices. Result!
