I must say that especially "Lovers' Side" sounds great. Just like every
other KLF track on vinyl sounds. No pops or clicks by the way. I think
the person who still owns it has never played it!
Deep Shit, however, sounds crappy. I suppose they ripped "The Queen And I"
off their own 1987 copies without having still the master tapes. That would
explain the bad quality.
Thanx for the info Dan, indeed the only mp3 I have come across of Deep Shit is encoded at 96 kbps which is just about the lowest standard for 44100 Hz stereo, but if the sound qual was poor in the first place I guess this makes no difference.
Regarding what you say about all KLF 12"s sounding "great", for me the only exception to this is KLF004T. My copy was bought new although it was the 91 or 92 reissue...but the vinyl is fairly thin and during the kinda high-pitched "ooo-OOO" bits in WTIL (I can post a time for this sound if no-one gets what I mean) it sounds quite distorted on my copy, on both sides/mixes.
Perhaps I was just unlucky and got a bad pressing but the 'classic trance mix' on KLF004R, which is one of the KLF004T mixes, is the same. This mix (the one with a beat) can be found on some CD singles of WTIL Live At Trancentral (eg the Australian 'Wicker Man' CD) with perfect sound quality but i've yet to find the other mix (with no beat) on CD, or even a decent mp3. Does anyone have any suggestions? And does anyone else have a similar copy of KLF004T or do everyone else's play perfectly? =)
Do you Yahoo!?
