I only recently got a copy of the first White Room recently off a list member and it is interesting how B&J were really targetting the pop market with the more soulful black vocal sound. Not that they weren't going for the pop market with the second version but it is interesting how the impact and change in the market heralded by the advent of rave changed the sound in the time between the two recordings. The actual UK release of White Room had definite post club feel to the tracks and was ideal come down music. THe two are quite different concepts though sharing in much and it is interesting hearing the development of ideas. I particularly liked the insights into 'Go to sleep' by having more of Bills lyrics and his reference to 'mummy' and the idea of it as bedtime story. -----Original Message----- From: Hawx [mailto:hawx@slinkyskunk.co.uk] Sent: 26 April 2002 14:51 To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Subject: RE: [KLF] White Room Video Original message from: Ulrik Brandt

bY THE WAY, I've heard about the "White Room" movie ever sence 1991, when the album became popular in the US. I knew that it was supposed to be the sound track to the movie, which was never released.
The album that came out was a remixed version of the original soundtrack. Where the movie might seem a little dissapointing, the unreleased album is among their best stuff ever. It features a completely different tracklist with early version of songs like the white room, build a fire, make it rain, etc, along with unrelased tracks like go to sleep, lovers side and born free. This album should be pretty easy to find, try starting up at www.klf.de
Yep yep, the soundtrack album version of The White Room is great... I think I actually prefer 3AM Eternal from the soundtrack version than to the "normal" version :) London, by night, all alone... Longon, by night, on my own... Hawx
