I think the positive plate you have is used to make the pressing plates (the mother plates if you were) and the vinyl is pressed from those and will look like the positive plate. I had similar pressing plates A&B for GUN 7" Sent from my iPhone On 26 Sep 2013, at 17:42, "Maarten Bouwes" <maarten@bouwes.nl> wrote:

It was offered to list members by PVC. I was lucky enough to secure it. This must have been about 12 years ago if not longer...
As to its background, I have no knowledge....best go to Tim for that. Remember it was Tim who sold one of the reverse pressings to 'hanky23' on ebay, so he may know how either came into existence.

It seems so! Where did you get that? Any stories behind that?

BTW on this topic (wow isn't the mailing list getting busy!)...
Did I mention I have one of the Eterna1 stampers?..............
HOWEVER......the groove matrix number does NOT read backwards as you would expect(?), it reads as you would see it on the actual vinyl pressing so I'm a little confused :-S So....doesn't this suggest I have one of the reverse plates?
For info it's the double A side plate - ETERNA 1 A1 or should it be known as '1A 1 ANRETE' ?

Well then it looks like it was intentional. I suppose the next question is was it a pressing plant thing or B&J experiment? I suspect we will never know.

Yes, if it plays from centre to outside. I was always after funny ways of cutting vinyl, or coloured vinyl etc. and my mastering engineer told me about swapping cogs around in a certain type of cutting lathe. This makes the cog which usually winds the needle across the record go the other way. You cant do it by accident.

From centre to outwards. Also cat# on the run-out groove are reversed.
But hence it plays correctly (from inside out) and not backwards, doesn't that mean that it has been done intentionally? If it would be mispress, wouldn't the music also be backwards?
