From the discography machine: The KLF: *E-Train* To Trancentral [1988] unrleased single
12": 1988 UK (KLF Communications; KLF 008T) *E-Train* To Trancentral The Lovers' Side [scheduled 12 Dec 88, rescheduled Sep 89; labels exist, as do black/purple ("Pure Trance 5 - The White Room") and sea-green/black ("*E-Train* To Trancentral") sleeves.] You're right some have reported seeing this (although no one has ever mentioned hearing it). Just because it was unrleased doesn't mean it wasn't pressed in some form. We know lossless versions of "The Lover's Side (Extended)" exist as a kind list member shared it with us very recently. E-Train, anyone? Dan On Sun, Oct 2, 2011 at 10:56 AM, Xavier <alunare@gmail.com> wrote:

As they've stated all along, there was no master plan. The future of sample and rap gave way to sample and techno. The remixes produced from the JAMS inspired them to form the KLF. The plan was to release 10 singles (5 original, 5 remix) in a 10 week period. Given it's primitive nature, "Love Trance" was probably the first recorded. Unhappy with this (or perhaps it sounded better in studio than on vinyl), they then recorded "What Time Is Love" which sounded fantastic but didn't really sell. Fast forward to the 1989 summer of love and WTIL starts to get word of mouth, starts to sell, and a much more polished 3 AM Eternal is released. Simultaneous to this the guys have been slaving away on a PSBish "White Room" album whilst not dismissing the "Pure Trance" theme (perhaps hoping to work both ends of the spectrum; "Kylie Said Trance" was labelled "Pure Trance" and "Madgrudga Eterna" is implied to be the same). The 3 AM remix "Blue Danube Oribtal" was released in mid-Sept of 1989 only after the White Room OST was scrubbed and credited to be on a future JAMS LP 5, which would imply that the failure of the KLF's "pop" sound had pushed them more into the direction of a ambient "Pure Trance" LP. "The What Time Is Love Story" quickly replaces The White Room OST as a stop gap release. The recent revelations of the completely different "Love Trance" which some believe to be a demo but I believe to be a later reworking, in addition to the very late release of the WTIL Remix 12" only a week before "Kyle") in addition to a very ambient "Last Train to Trancentral" and club promo of "Madrudga Eterna" the same month of March 1990 leads me to believe that the template for the 10 1988 Pure Trance singles was in place but that the guys just couldn't keep the tight schedule, were too distractible, and too ever shifting. Even a possible "Turn Up The Strobe" proto IGN gives credence to the fact that there was a Pure Trance plan but for whatever reason it couldn't be executed. The "Pure Trance" LP finally surfaced as "Chill Out." although in a radically different form. I think that other than variations, we've finally heard all of the main things the KLF have produced, although maybe not in the best sound quality that exists. Mark Stent claims to have two completely finished and mixed Black Room tracks so that's probably all that's left (unless there's reasonably completed session tracks as rumor has it thees guys had about three goes at this album. Maybe one day somebody will put out these finished Black Room tracks as a charity 12"? Maybe Mark Stent follows the list? Maybe there are lurkers who have things in higher quality? It hardly seems to matter anymore; 20 years on the floodgates have opened and an outpouring of cool shit has sprung fourth. I for one would be happy to give what little extra I habe to the Humane Society or any worthy non-political cause to finish the tale. Or perhaps it never ends... Ancient.
