IDIOT

Macs are for pretentious fools or people who like to own pretty things, to work slowly and who have lots of money.

I have a Mac, and I use it regularly, so I should know. I use it to check my designer's work, and that's necessary partly because Macs use certain fonts that aren't available (no, they are NOT. I'll come to that) to PCs, and partly because designers are a bunch of fucking mad idiots who live in world of their own. I think they're also slightly dyslexic or something.

I don't use it for anything else.

Mac engineers tend to charge more than PC ones, and there are less of them. Macs work more slowly. This isn't a question of clock speed, it's to do with shortcuts; right-clicking, for instance. Then there's the managing of large numbers of files. And so on, and so on.

"Mac software and PC software is entirely compatible these days. Any Mac/PC file can be opened on any PC/Mac." Well, that's a dirty wicked lie. When they can be, they don't look alike. Then there's the cost of software, and the limited choice.

"There are no Mac viruses." My Mac came with one pre-installed. "Hackers don't bother attacking Macs." There are mailing lists out there, boards and usenet groups, whole communities of people into hacking Macs, which are generally owned by idiots who reckon they don't need firewalls. (Which will cost more; no ZoneAlarm for Macs, you have to buy one.) There's OS X, which will necessitate you losing some speed and changing envrionments all the time, or spending thousands on new copies of Photoshop and the like.

And so on, and so on, and so on. I've been using Macs for about five years, PCs since the 80s, so I reckon I know about it.

Though Macs do look nice. And working slowly is easier.
