Alex Patterson often wondered why the first Cydonia versions were bootlegged before being distributed officially. The only thing Alex could think of was that someone from "inside" made these early versions available. His right hand slipped these demo's out since he had acces to the masters.
just to back up what chris said: cydonia v1 / v2 / v3 were all promo'd by island records, and were fairly easy to pick up if you knew the right people / knew where to look. lx seemed to blame andy hughes for the fact that they were out on the net, and magically failed to forget about the fact that his record label had been sending versions of the album out for nearly two years before the "final" version appeared. i'm also fairly certain that andy didn't pass on the 2cd "demos" either, as he always said that if they got out, he would be the first in the firing line... ...and as copies were going round island records at the time, you can probably draw your own conclusions. --- Smiley
