Follow the “Factual
Information” link.
There you
will see a currently inactive link to an Advanced Acoustic Armaments site that
is “coming soon”.
Jimmy was
working on this site back in March when Gimpo and I took him some old Super8
film footage.
Advanced
Acoustic Armaments have a long history.
My earliest
recollections of the AAA stretch way back to tanks and a “dead cow”
story when Jimmy lived in
There was
also another story (of dubious factual content) told by Stewart Home about
being kidnapped by the AAA and shown a vast arsenal of weaponry quarter-mastered
on Jimmy’s farm and how after publishing the story Jimmy received a visit
from the “authorities”.
When Jimmy
performed the live remix of a Black Star Liner track on a bleak mist covered Dartmoor
the reports mentioned the tanks without reference to the AAA yet anyone who has
listened to the track with its distortion and loud electronic / industrial
noise-scape will quickly recognise the AAA influence.
Other
notable appearances / performances of the AAA include “This Brick”
shown at the Barbican event in 1997 and the tanks made several appearances at
various protests like the
Experimental
sound-scapes are ever-present in Jimmy’s artwork… just think of
Chill Out, Waiting and This is NOT what the KLF is about (on the Stadium House
video) but more tantalizingly there is at least one as yet unreleased piece
that is specifically attributed to the AAA and that is an experimental album
called Squawk.
It was originally
given a catalogue number and was to be released on Mute Records.
I have no
idea if the new site will open up a branch of new material or just expose the
roots a little but I am just delighted that unlike the KLF, K-Foundation or CNPD
this part of the tree has not been cut off and burnt.
Keep
looking forward.
Love peace
and happiness.
