Hi all, Right now there is a national exposition called Expo.02 in Switzerland, this is a very big event around some cities and three lakes in Switzerland. If you want to read more about it go to http://www.expo.02.ch/e/home.html If you wonder what it looks like surf the webpage, I have to say that I pretty much like it, the buildings they did for it look very interesting, the expositions they have (about a lot of different things) are interesting as well. One of the parts is in the city I live called Biel/Bienne. That would't be of much interest for this mailinglist exept for one thing: One exposition they have is about money and it's value and myth. They have a lot of different artworks about money, films about money and other related stuff. The exposition is in a golden pavillon, watch the following link for a small picture of it: http://www.expo.02.ch/e/home/finallisteartes/bienne/exposition/argent You will also find a short description of the exposition. The heart of the exposistion is a "money destroing machine". It's a industrial robot-arm you often can see in automated factories. From one part in this machine 100SFr. bank notes pop up every few seconds (about 75Euro). It's a real print of Swiss money but they have a special stamp on it so I think it's worthless. Then the robot arm plays around with the money and later puts it into a shredder. The shredded money is on a little pile. This goes one minute for minute the whole day, I've read that they shred several 100'000 SFr. each day. The statement of the machine is "money is not worth more than the paper on which it's printed". Well so far so good but I couldn't believe what I saw around the machine: There are three video screens around the machine and on this screens there is an endless loop of one film: Watch the K Foundation burn a million quid!!!!! I was freaking out when I saw that. It start's with a translation to german, italian and french of the beginning of the film. What it is about, when it happened and who joined it (they name the people who are listed in the original film I suppose). I don't have the original film so I can't say if they cut some parts together. As I said it's an endless loop, you see the intro when they drive around with the car, then when they start to do the fire (you see some persons but I couldn't recognize the faces) and finaly you see a lot of money buring. It's just several minutes, I didn't check how long exactly (I will do it next time). It's not allowed to take pictures but next time I go there I will ask if I can do some anyway and put the links online! I expect that several thousand people see this film sequence each day now, it's very popular to go to this Expo.02. What I don't know is if they asked for permission to show this sequence, would be interesting to know :-)) Anyway, if you are in Switzerland this summer you might have a look at it, I liked it very much!
