Ok, I SHOULD be in bed now, but I couldn't resist this. My top 5 dance albums are : 1. Voodoo Child - The End Of Everything - Moby goes for mellow trance in a fantastic way 2. Kraftwerk - Electric Cafe (German version) - Everybody's gotta have a Kraftwerk CD in there haven't they? 3.Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman 4. New Order - Technique 5. KLF - Chill Out. Right. What would be YOUR personal Top 5 (dance) albums ? Releases that you can listen to from the first to the last track without skipping any song ?
Excellent stuff. Ok Top 5 "dance" albums of all time, in no particular order: The KLF - Chill Out (KLF Communications) Still a unique record. We all know about how good it is. DJ Shadow - Endtroducing (Mo'Wax) Just a sublime record. Every time I listen to it, it surprises me again, and I keep finding new things in it. It brings a wonderful emotional richness, despite the fact that it's built up of samples. It's just wonderful! Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman (JBO) All Underworld's albums are amazing. I just picked this one cos it's got Dark & Long, Cowgirl and Dirty Epic on it, which are all just perfect. Boards Of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children (Warp) Great twisted electronica. Does it count as dance? Not sure, but it's still great. Their latest album, Geogaddi, is superb as well, but Music is a permanent favourite. Chilled, but not purposefully so. Various Artists - Mastercuts Classic House 1 Not a studio album, granted, but certainly my favourite compilation. Loads of classic Chicago house tracks that started it all off. Someday, It's Alright, Promised Land. Just great, soulful house. Every one's a winner. Can't recommend them enough.
