i filmed these speakers last year- they are covered in white paint and a bit grubby- i can try and get some screen shots as jpegs which might help as you can see the sides. ----- Original Message ----- From: darren@forster99.eclipse.co.uk To: klf@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Friday, March 09, 2007 7:17 AM Subject: [KLF] Re: KLF T Shaped Speakers ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
I know it was discussed before but I can't find the topic in the archive. Sorry to ask you all again, but is there someone who know the manufacturer and the model of the T-shaped speakers used by the KLF?
Thanx, Stephane
Many years ago I brought this one up (approx 1998) as I bought a pair of speakers when I was at University at Preston Market that were very similar to the ones on the front cover of The White Room, the pair I've got are made by Hitachi. The writing on the back has faded so I can't see what model no they are, I think though the ones that The KLF used on their White Room cover were just DJ custom built speakers like you can get from Images -
http://www.images2.co.uk/Sound_Equipment/Speaker_Components.Empty_Cabinets/ You'd get a similar speaker if you got 4 of the Empty 15" Bass Bin Cabinets and glued them together into a T-shape (which is probably what The KLF did!) and then added 3 15" speakers to it and had the wires running out of the top left speaker, although at £85 for each bass bin, you're talking of quite a bit of money just to create a nice piece of art - maybe it could win next years Turner prize! (hmm... how ironic would that be!)
