It actually might be more American to attempt to censor its play as the "powers that be" tend to be very reactionary.  The fact that it's still played is probably based on ignorance more than greed.  They tried to blame the Columbine shootings on the Quake and Doom games, because the kids who committed the crimes played them.  They tried to blame ACDC for some kid's death just because he had a ACDC hat and some records.  Or was it Judas Priest???  Did you know watching Teletubbies will make your children gay...  I guess we just have to wait until someone says they learned how to collect child porn by listening to Gary Glitter tunes.  :)
