Tadaa! And here I am!
The story I heard about the "Deep Shit" 12" (and Thomas should be able to confirm this) was that someone in London DOES have the record,
Yep. The same person also put it on eBay for sale some months ago, but withdrew the auction later. Got to ask him wether he still owns his copy. (*looks@wallet*)
containing 3 tracks "Deep Shit", "M E (Club)" and "Lover's Side (Extended)". Thomas recorded it, when he visited him - but its possible other copies/versions have "escaped" since.
Not entirely true. I wasn't there myself, but two of us (Jens and Torsten (?)) went seeing him, and along some other interesting stories and cool items (I got a 12" inner sleeve with drawings by Jimmy all over it) he also dug out the disc with "Deep Shit" and "Lovers' Side (extended)", allowing my mates to record it onto minidisc.
The discography lists two versions of "Deep Shit" on the 12" ("D S (Part 2)" and "D S (Part 3 - The Illegal Mix"), but I've only ever heard the one with KSTJ sampled on it, as described. It even has a catalogue number which refers to KSTJ - KLF 010IR (the "I" for illegal?)
It's still unconfirmed wether or not THIS particular entry is legitimate or all made up. The one on the 12" mentioned above plays the version with KSTJ, YMCA and The Queen & I, with Bill shouting "Stop that pop shit, what we want is some deep shit!" (also part of the hidden track on R&R)
I have no idea what the record actually looks like - but the presence of a (very good sound quality) Lover's Side extended version and a Madrugada Eterna (Club Mix) without all the pops and crackles the Dutton 12" has, suggests that its, if not entirely genuine, then at least made up by someone VERY close to the band (didn't Youth and Alex and B & J have a sort of thing going with limited editions for friends only back in '89 - like the WTIL (Monster Attack Mix) and possibly Love Trance?)
That certain someone is indeed very close connected to Jimmy. He also told us about some of Jimmy's earlier remixes long before Crapola did, as well as confirmed that the 5ive remix indeed exists, but never got published due to his non-commercial sound for the label. ..::// Thomas
