The Norwegian electronica-duo Royksopp won a major Norwegian music award this weekend -called Spellemann of the year (don't ask...). During the award speach they specifically thanked the KLF for inspiration and for making them better people - whatever that may mean.
So they're not influenced in the way Scooter are, for example? <grin>
I make it a policy not to listen to a band whose name I can't pronounce. Care to enlighten us?
I gotta say that their album (I thinks it's called melody 3am) is one of the best dance-oriented thing I've heard for a very long time. Could do with a few more vocals though. Definately no direct KLF references or samples.
On a more general topic, I think this is a perfect example of where Bill and Jimmy have lost touch these days. General reports we get back from public events where Bill and Jimmy turn up point towards their attitude that their old music fans should "get a life" and move on, much as they have.
What they appear to fail to appreciate is that their actions during the time they were "The KLF" will continue to have an effect as people in that generation that listened to them move into the lime-light in their own right. What is more, they have left a body of work that will, rightly or wrongly, outlive them. (They probably feel wrongly, given the deletion of their back catalogue.)
So it's OK for them to be heavily influenced by music and books (illuminatus trilogy) but if they happen to influence anyone via their music then that person is 'sad' and needs to get a life? Will someone ask Bill the following: If it wasn't for KLF fans, how many people would've turned up at The Barbican last time to see his shit? Andrew --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
