Truckstop JAMS ... oh yeah. ;-)
I still have the disk somewhere. It does the rounds as mp3s of the web, I think. The last time I listened to it would have been at least four, maybe five years ago ...
The idea of a cheap-o KLF compilation, available through petrol stations and market stalls, left guerilla-style in their shelves, has been slightly superceded by the three (four?) "mash up" discs that have appeared, along with PVC's releases and those KLF "rarities" EPs that turned up on eBay from acmeproductions.
It's also been slightly superceded by the fact that, in the UK at least, no one can still afford to go to petrol stations!
I remember there was a wiki set up by someone too, which was altered to be not terribly flattering about me, which probably put me off a bit. Who needs the hassle? But the idea of leaving KLF CDs/music lying around for people to pick up still appeals.
Bill has "No Music Day" - maybe we should respond with a "Music Day". Something like World Book Day, but it's for KLF music. We all burn up one disk, and then leave it lying somewhere where we know someone -a stranger - will pick it up (torrenting or rapidsharing mp3s doesn't have the same feel ... ).
We could all choose our own tracks, so whoever finds it would have a completely unique KLF disk ... hmm ...
29th April is Royal Wedding Day in the UK, but far more importantly it's "Happy Birthday Bill Drummond Day" ... Who knows, maybe this could be a totem for people who couldn't give a flying fuck about Baldy and Working Ovaries getting married in a pretty old barn?
Wow ... I'm enthused again. Anyone else have any views?
