I know this question gets asked all the time, and I think someone even set up a site at one point. I just need 2 or 3 good shops that are worth going to. I've dealt with Rough Trade, and Sister Ray online...
The majority of good record shops are very close together, on or around Berwick Street, which is a turning off Oxford Street, halfway between Oxford Circus underground station and Tottenham Court Road underground station. There you will find Sister Ray (top for industrial/indie music, good KLF stock) a branch of the Notting Hill Record and Tape exchange (you don't need to go any further south alongh Berwick Street than this shop btw), Selectadisk (indie again), Mister CD (new CDs very very cheap) Reckless (2nd hand and rarities, 2 shops) and very nearby BlackMarket (dance promos a spaeciality) and then on Oxford Street, are the largest branches of HMV and the Virgin Megastore. If you can't buy what you want in any of those, then it's going to be difficult to buy anywhere. - Andy_R
