WinRAR is more-or-less the same as Winzip, except that you can create uncompressed (a la 'TARs') archives. These are basically a group of files all stuck together in one big file. The difference is, as there's no compression, it's much easier to recover the individual files. You can download WinRAR here (it's shareware): http://www.rarlab.com/ - many people (including myself) find its interface a lot more user friendly than WinZip's too... Can you explain a more join-the-dots way, for instance: how do I set up a winrar file of mp3s? and then everything saved up again on a disconnected external drive as WAVs.
I would still recommend using a program like QuickPar to create recovery files in case a track is unreadable. My usual method of archiving is to store the files as a multiple WinRar archive (uncompressed), the use QuickPar to make recovery files. If one of the archive files become unreadable for some reason, QuickPar will be able to recreate the file and all is good. -paul _____ _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf Report list abuse to list-abuse at studio-nibble.com
