I think this is more likely a reference to the Roland 808, hence the '808 Bass Version' of LTTT, and presumably how 808 State got their name in the first place. Also the 3AM/Tunes Splits the Atom thing is interesting, as the latter charted in Sept 1990 but the 'bleeps' of contention also occur in the 1990 demo version of 3AM which I believe was recorded in August. Close thing! I guess the 808/Tunes track could've been around on white label, and i'm not sure if his album 'The North at its Heights' was released before or after the single.
