Me too.  Although Pete seems to be a bit less wired to the moon than some of the writers.  He gives he impression he likes things outside music too (or at least, has knowledge of them) and is not solely concerned with finding the next urgent boy-band noiseniks ripping off Gang of Four riffs and snorting Kate Moss into their arm while hiding their public schools accents underneath ADHD and a love of Chas and Dave and their own half-arsed mythology. (Naming no names).

It is indeed the same guy. I met him at the 1993 Phoenix festival when he was about 14, he was wearing the old white KLF t-shirt so I naturally asked him why. I was bowled over by his enthusiasm, especially when I realised he was the author of the little KLF fanzine/book I had at home. He was heading for the main stage with a portable DAT as he had it on good authority that compere/DJ John Peel was to play K Sera Sera between acts

It's a shame a kinda groundless elitism and smugness that seems to have come with adulthood has made him an ideal writer for the NME, one could argue. I still buy the wretched rag every week though  =/
