Should any artist have this attitude? And should we respect it?
Here are my musings on this one. In my humble opinion..... The KLF through their actions and their literary and historical references ; particularly R.A.Wilsons ideas on confusion, paranoia and celebrating life by living in the eternal present, and not the past or the future, could help understand some of Bill's current views. Life cannot be lived in the past, the groups music was a product of British music culture circa 1987-1992 and much has changed since. They may be still relevant to music now (particularly with the recylcing so prevalent today and the lack of new sounds) but they really belong to a time that has passed. I would think that some of Bill's iritation may be because he sees KLF fans as missing out on the now in favour of what was going on in 1990. Some obsessive fans could be missing out on a current band/trend/book/art-happening that are a KLF for today because of their gazing to the past. An artist is entitled to his/her attitude like any other person and if they don't want to talk about a topic we should respect that choice. Giving something out for public consumption is not a contract for a lifelong interrogation about it.
