Yeah, as one of my mates who's met them testifies, V/Vm are KLF fans, and monstrous piss takers at the same time. There's a track on the Green Door CD called 'A Day up North' which features very heavily distorted factory horns like the ones on It's Grim up North. All their stuff is totally bizarre, and unlike Scooter, they seem to be carrying on the KLF's avant garde spirit rather than just ripping them off wholesale. I'm a secondary school teacher. And in my 12-year-olds class just before Christmas, I asked them all what their favourite song/band was. About 60% of the whole class said Scooter! Personally, I found this rather useful, and the following day brought in a CDR of KLF singles and showed them some of the musical similarities. This lead on to a discussion of how pop stars can write books (they were amazed by this!) and for once I seemed rather "cool" to the class! So Scooter DO occasionally have their uses!
On a slight different topic, has anyone on the list ever brought up the topic of the band "V/VM"? I don't claim to be an expert, but they seem to be quite indebted to the KLF. Their website can be found here: http://www.brainwashed.com/vvm/ and one of their "various artists" albums contains a track called "@3 AM Paul Robeson Says - No to Eternal": http://rock-music.mainseek.com/114211/94/Vx2F8xVm_Test_Records.htm l. Sadly, the track does not appear to feature any KLF samples.
Have a good weekend, everyone. John Not Scots, just Scot-tish. _______________________________________________ KLF mailing list KLF@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/klf
