I mistakenly thought you might be mastering the other project, hence listening to the 'Love Trance', making a graph to back up what I was saying and tweaking the eq.
I love re-tweaking old masters. I have no issue with people doing masters but saying it is professional is why I have picked up on it. The eq has a 20db dip in it and there is over 8db of space left, its not that this is a graph thing, its quiet and sounds bad to the ear. I agree with hearing, it should sound right but the graph is handy as this isn't about opinion or personal preference.

Subject: Re: [KLF] Masters?
i did EQ (small) tuning on ear w/o using any graph
just like they did in old days
it's what i learnt in school and also heard from
other sound engineers - these days people
are doing stuff depending on how it looks
on screen, graphs not so much on ear.
you have to hear it not see it.
regarding compression.
it helps to bring out many things out of the mix
so it's not bad to use it.
i used SSL based Glue Compressor with
parallell compression so it won't be smashed
and leaves much from original dynamics.
i dislike brickwalled sounds unless it's a part of concept
like i did in my Black Room reinterpretations.
