I've always gone with the assumption, much like the quality of the sample off "Slave to Rhythm" used in the Orb's "A huge every growing pulsating etc. etc.", they (jimmy or alex) had access to source tapes.  Remember, when you're in the business of remixing stuff, record companies often send you DATs with each track from the master two-inch recorded on them, SMPTE'd as well, if you're lucky.  So, access to the raw material is not as rare or unlikely as you might think.

How did  B&J managed to get the sample off the song? I mean, if you listen closely, there's no way one could remove the sample without the surrounding music. Or do you just filter it out? How does it work?
