As you may know, next Saturday (8th March) is the
25th anniversary of "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" original radio
show. I'm attempting to collate a list of all bands/records which
have sampled bits of this series - the Orb's "Blue Room", for example, or Jam
and Spoon and Radiohead. As far as I am aware, the KLF themselves never
sampled "Hitch-Hiker's" in any form (during their ambient days anyway) - but I
may be wrong. I wonder if any of the "new" remixes or bootlegs that have
popped up in recent years (some of which I've never heard) contain
"Hitch-Hiker's" samples. If anyone knows of any record (KLF or otherwise)
which contains samples from the show, please feel free to e-mail me off
list.
Secondly, does anyone know if Bill Drummond was
involved with the Ken Campbell stage show of "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the
Galaxy"? It was done about two years after "Illuminatus!" (which Drummond
was set designer on, I think), during the early days of Zoo Records.
Presumably Bill had a day job somewhere though!
Sorry if this seems a bit off-topic, but any help
or info would be very much appreciated. And at least it moves the
conversation away from war (unless it's between the G'guvuntts and the Vl'hurgs)
;-)
Thanks.
