Silent Protest Berlin On 20th March, Berlin based photographers Thomas Ecke and Kosta Tzaniilidis will do their own interpretation of Bill Drummond's Silent Protest project, "Silent Protest Berlin". Inspired by Drummond's idea, they evolved it further for the 2nd "anniversary" of the USA's attack on Iraq to make a statement against the war in remembrance of its victims. At 3:34 AM (MET) - as the first bomb was dropped on Bagdad - both artists will start to drive through the streets of Berlin from west to east, following a route that writes the words "Silent Protest". On the starting point of each letter, an eternal flame will be lit. "Political, economical or social conflicts must not be solved with violence and bloodshed, but through approach and negotiations." "'Silent Protest Berlin' fears the huge impact and effects of the cultural clash. It despises the passivity of war's objectors and asks for the intellectual resistance against violence and terror." "'Silent Protest Berlin' rejects violence."
