oops, i spoke too soon - the mailman archives don't show email addresses of the sender (they replace it with klf@mailman.xmission.com) but if there's an address somewhere in the message body it doesn't get removed e.g if the body includes something like "at 03:23am cow@example.com wrote:" then that address will be preserved in the archive.
