I wonder if Wouter is still serious about heading to the Isle of Jura now he's heard the best of what's on it, and if so, whether he'd be the first person to go all the way to the Isle of Jura just because Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty went there a few years before? Or has some other KLF fan already made that journey for just that reason?
Stuart.
Well, I am trying to find out if it is worth the trouble. The main reason why I am in Scotland will the international mini meeting, as I am a enthousiastic mini-driver.
Really? And is Minnie Driver enthusiastic too? Most Mini drivers are enthusiastic and excited. Maybe it's because there's so little legroom that there's always too much blood being pushed back into their head.
After the meeting we will participate in a tour, but as we have some days off I wonder if it better to go sailing on on of the lakes or do the trip to Jura.
Although I've not been to Jura I've been to other islands off Scotland and I'm guessing that they won't be far different, and with that in mind I'd say that you might enjoy it depending on what you actually want to see. If you're expecting civilisation and depth of culture and broad rolling scenery and epic landscapes- then you could stay on the Scottish mainland and get that as well. Scottish islands are mostly just damp bits of grassy pointy rock and the few scant residents there spend their time inventing new dialects and creating the perfect whisky in order to forget how lonely they are. I dare say there are people on Jura who went to live there to get away from tourists, rather than to attract them. If you're taking your Mini, then according to my map Jura has one road (the A846) which is about 20 miles long. Driving up and down it might keep you entertained for an hour or two... maybe you'll pass people who are also doing the same thing to cheer themselves up. Half of Jura appears to be covered in trees.
