The KLF got done by the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) so I presume they should be the first port of call. Andrew

Hi.
I'm in the process of writing a stage musical about the indie/dance music craze of the late-eighties, early-nineties, particularly the "Madchester" music scene. I'm hoping to use many of the original songs - the Roses, the Mondays, the Las, etc. etc. - in the same way that Queen, Madness and Boy George have all turned up in London musicals lately. Does anyone know of a good place to start for clearance on copyright on this sort of thing - maybe a website, a phone number or an organisation?
I know a KLF mailing list may seem a strange place worry about copyright law, but I hope someone will be able to help me. If you want, you can e-mail me direct off list.
Thanks,
John
