Yes it's exactly that - a "faux surround" mix. When I was playing the CD I really wanted it to rumble my bass speaker so I extracted the audio to a WAV file and processed it in Acid 4 as an AC3 (Dolby Digital) file. Add that to some NASA footage of the earth from the shuttle, add chapters & bingo. Is the 5.1 Space disc a homebrew 5.1 DTS re-encode, or is there any sort of story behind it? Ambient is a music that has yet to explore the possibilities of DVD-Audio or SACD, but is well over due.
