The first two you mention sound like the one I have...have you checked the inside of the gatefold? I just did, and unfortunately on mine the text seems to be the wrong way around...the chronology doesn't work, the left side press cuttings dating from Aug 87 to April 88, and the left side from March 87 to July 87. The record labels have the pyramid blaster on one side and tracklist on the other (or BPM times on the second disc).
Can anyone confirm that KLF Communications never reissued any of the KLF records, as I bought this around 1992 and it seems a bit early to be a bootleg. It seems the Pure Trance 12" singles were reissued around this time too (WTIL sleeve for example is a slightly lighter shade of green) so were these bootlegs, even though KLF Comms were still pressing records/CDs?
It would be cool to hear from someone who feels they definitely have an original copy of Shag Times ie. purchased around 1988, or can someone confirm they have a copy with white text on a black background on the back of the sleeve, please? Beginning to think i'm goin mad =/

Both my copies are identical -- with the exception of the sticker. I bought one (sans sticker) from Probe in Liverpool circa 1991/1992 and I won the other one on eBay recently. As far as the sleeves go, both have "THE JUSTIFIED ANCIENTS OF MU MU [pyramid logo] CIRCA 1987" "SH/\G TIMES" on the front and a white "KLF" in very large font on a black panel, although the rest of the rear of the p/s is white with the tracklist/credits in black.
I also have RTD87 (the single LP version) which has an identical front to the two DLP3's (although no sticker).
No idea if either/neither/both of these are the reissue or bootleg - comments?
Chris
See my previous comments too though...my version has a white sleeve with 'Shag Times...The Justified Ancients Of MuMu Circa 1987' on the front and a tracklist on the back, all in black print. This was 'new' when I bought it around 1992 therefore is probably the reissue/bootleg version but I have seen slightly tattier (therefore perhaps older) copies where the back of the sleeve is a totally black background with white print...i'd always assumed this was the original issue, therefore isn't that quite a major difference too? I think some of these older copies had the sticker on the front too.
the main difference between the original and the repress is when you open
the gatefold one of them was misprinted with the text on left and right
inners (all the stuff about music papers and stuff) appearing transposed
(ie left hand page printed on right and visa versa)
