Unless i'm tripping, the original Sony Playstation (or at least mine which is 2nd issue or whatever with red 'n' black phono sockets) had some weird effects you could apply with it's built-in audio CD player, mostly drowning the music in reverb or echo and calling it 'cathedral' or whatever but I think there was a 'karaoke' effect which did what I described. I better check, I seem to imagine all kinds of stuff...=)
