Well, klfboy, sorry if I offended you - it WAS meant to be a sly dig at your rant, nothing more. But think of this ... you may not have had access to any Hicks or Leary back when they were touring (I'm lucky, you could buy their CDs in the local book shop/record shop when I was young) but then, how many Scooter fans will have access/knowledge of old KLF tracks or the KLF mythology? For some of them, 1990/1991 was probably before they were even born (scary thought I know) and some are probably just not interested in very old (and slow) dance records. You can't tell if something's a rip-off if you don't know WHAT they're ripping-off. Maybe a KLF greatest hits would finally tell people what Scooter are copying. I remember back in 2003 teaching a lot of 12/13 year olds, who were all big Scooter fans (let's be honest, that's a pretty normal age for their fan base, I would think) and I played them a few old KLF tracks on my last day - and they were ... well, not amazed as such, but they were certainly intrigued. I don't think it stopped them liking Scooter, but it maybe made them think a bit more (after all, what else is a teacher meant to make them do?) John

If anyone's interested, the Royal Festival Hall Gift Shop (London, just outside the RFH) is selling black t-shirts with Jeremy Dellar's "Acid Brass" bubble diagram stretching from the front to the back of the t-shirt. I think they're about £22-£25 each. I spotted them last Friday and there were still t-shirts available. Didn't someone once describe them as the KLF's Rutles? The Scootles? The RUT.L.F.? Anyway, Jimmy seems to be quite fond of them (there was that interview where he said "ah, Scooter ... " like a dissapproving but fond schoolmaster) ... Some may know more than me, but ... It was pressed apparently by Mike Dutton, KLF bootlegger extraordinaire (and latterly, elusive money-grabber), who also came up with things like the "Komplete" vid, the original "White Room" demos cassette with the "What Goes On" mixes, and the "Arkive 1" and "Arkive 2" CDs. All these things coul be bought direct from him - but they also filtered through record fairs. I think it dates from around mid-1991, which probably makes it one of the earliest KLF boots (along with the "White Room" demo cassette, and possibly the original red cover 1987 CD). I seem to remember reading somewhere that there were far more copies pressed that the 500 announced on the sleeve. And, of course, ETERNA 23 has nothing to do with Italy. Of course, the track originally comes from the 12" promo ETERNA 1, limited to 20 (?) copies - the only person I've heard of who owns that baby is Erik Gander. ETERNA 1 also includes a 3-minute edit of the same track, and the original version (the mix from KLF010CD rather than JAMSLP5, I think). Oh, and as an aside, lovers of Graham Lee's slide guitar might like to know that the Triffids, minus Dave McComb of course, played a reunion gig in Denmark this June.
