Hi all! First of all: Thanks Rob for your FTP archive. It is an immensive help to me collecting all material I need for my DJ set next week! Thanks, thanks, thanks! I mean, filling up 4 hours of KLF-related material is quite a task, I see now... And: While browsing the KLF FTP archive I met a LOT of tracks of Go Home Productions. All the rest I knew about, but these MP3s are unknown to me, can anyone enlighten (illuminate even?) me?

What is it about THIS TRACK that classifies it TO YOU that it's a remix and not an original track with KLF Remix slapped on it. That's all I'm asking. Apart from the line "gonna make you sweat", which wasn't even sampled from WTIL or Wanda Dee there is nothing in this mix from the original source material which goes head on against what you defined as a remix. Someone wrote that a good way of putting it is as being "inspired by" which is an interesting notion but it's not a remix. -paul

...and actually, the more I think about Thomas' explanation the more it makes sense. In that it's not a remix at all, but a track inspired by or based on. This makes sense in the abstract, but I still feel it's improper to classify such a track as a remix since that implies some sort of mixing of the original track. And if I pick up a 12" claiming to be a remix of a classic track I expect to be reminded of that track. -paul

Magic Roundabout - WL 12" - Query

Back in the early 90's on a pirate radio station I heard a dance version of the Magic Roundabout theme tune - a sort of metallic rendition over some dance beats - which at the time I thought was pretty cool. I went out and bought it on a white label from my local dance shop, but I can't remember what it was called or who it was by. I vaguely remember the DJ calling it "Yo Mr Bad Guy" by "The Magic Roundabout Crew". It's a 3 track WL, with the following matrix etchings: WC6 A1 BOING WC6 B1 Side A has two tracks and Side B has one track. I had a search around and the nearest thing I can find is "Everlasting Day" by "Magick Roundabout" on the Orb's Wau! Mr. Modo label, which has a MAGX8 catalogue number. Is this the same thing? Anybody? Simon

We know what I classify as being a remix, what's yours? In what manner do you consider the Villalolbos track a proper remix? That's all I'm asking. If you played someone this track and asked them to guess the track or at least the artist being remixed and I don't think anyone, even you, would be able to tell me it was WTIL. No one is threatening lawsuits. As I said before quite clearly, I expect some recognizable element of the original track to be present. So I ask again - what is it about this track that tells YOU it's a remix and not an original composition with "KLF remix" slapped on it? Now, to be fair it DOES contain the line "i wanna see you sweat" but it's certainly not Wanda Dee nor is it sung in that style. This could just as well be a remix of Dee's track. -paul

Anyone else catch Radio 1, Zane Lowe last night (16/06/05)? They were running down their 'most punk' people (top 20) and at number 18... MOST PUNK CHART -NO 18: BILL DRUMMOND ...nice surprise ! it was quite a cool show with loads of tracks i haven't heard for a while, but anyway, it's up for listen again on the bbc.co.uk/radio1 website if anyone's interested...
