> I don't have the CD but I do have the Possum LP of > "The History of the Jams" Not sure what the question actually is involving this disc... but in an effort to be helpful: The Burn the Beat on this disc is a properly edited mix to remove Bastards from the vocals (as well as "what the fuck have we done"). AFAIK (and apart from the recently mentioned compilation CD) it's the only appearance of this mix on cd. It also was released as a 7" in OZ. The CD is also notable for being the only CD appearance of the splendid Disaster Fund Collection. -paul

John, I don't have the CD but I do have the Possum LP of "The History of the Jams" Unfortunately I don't have a record player available at present..... Do you know if the CD and the record are the same? There are 8 tracks listed on the cover but 9 on the record - "Burn the Beat - 7" mix" is the extra track. There are a couple of other differences in song names too if you are interested. Sorry I haven't checked the discog. to see what that reflects. Forgive me if i'm acting a little thick, but, Does anyone know where the guitar sample ( acoustic strums ) are from on chill out. It appears at around 28.45 on the UK CD. I gave it another listen today and it's been really nagging me. Also, does anyone actually have a recording of AFTER THE LOVE HAS GONE by JESUS LOVES YOU. Can't seem to find it anywhere. I need to track these recordings down for my next mission. Thanks, JEZ.

Does Mike Love share writing credits? Of the handful of properly completed tracks for Smile (from my best recollection), all seem to be by Wilson and V.D Parks. Good Vibrations (which I think was intended for Smile) is by Wilson/Love. <shrugs> Maybe a Beach Boys group would be better suited. But, as someone interested in hearing the final work (esp after hearing the new Heroes and Villians) I'm curious. -paul

There's much discussion on this on other lists and Groups I'm involved with, but apparently most people think it's a good thing. The original recordings were a work in progress, and despite scores of 60s-eras bootlegs, there's no definitive "Smile" by the Beach Boys. And there never will be.
