This is rather strange... I think this subject has been on before. 2 Years ago, eil.com sold a few IGUN 12" for 75 pounds. They claimed the records were found at some sort of attic/someone had a few spare 12". My run off text: "It's Grim Up North" "JAMS 28 T" (J reversed) and "JA". Remember Tim telling something about a re-release/repress and that the master was in the hands of this guy which name wasn't given/can't remember. He pressed a few and sold them. Now I am curious what the "original" ""first press"" says in the run off groove. Does this mean I bought a boot, a counterfeit, a repress or a whateveryoumaycallit? KLF poetry?

I can't help noticing all the strange poetry that's suddenly popping up? Are we having a competition or something? If so, below is my entry. Hopefully, you will all enjoy it. John "Ode to the KLF": The vicar's son from Galloway And the man who drew the hobbits Both came together one fine day To make some shiny gobbets Of trance, and rave, and ambient too; Singing of ice cream vans, And wrapped it up in the Land of Mu, (To please their more mystic fans). The hits came fast and furious With money ready to burn And the music press were curious But were deflected at every turn Then another day came, this time not so fine When abruptly, the music ceased And KLF's fans all started to pine - "This pop group is definitely deceased"! There have been flickers since then - or ashes at least A brass band that play with such wit And now we have e-bay's great KLF feast And bootlegs that are probably shit We will never love others as much as the JAMs That's something I've realised of late. For their music, you see, (like most KLF fans) Will simply never, ever date (My new book "Twenty Seven Sonnets to Altern-8" is available through Kenpiln Burn Press and at: "groups.yahoo.com/group/highlandland")

I doubt many of these vinyl History OTJ were made after the early 90's. So it's probably an old unopened copy, or maybe the store has a shrink wrap machine. Hi, Andy, My grey vinyl copy of JAMS28T says the following: "IT'S GRIM UP NORTH" (capitalised, hand-written, with quotation marks) and "JAMS 28T" (the same but without quotation marks, and with the "J" back to front, and the "2" looking much like a back to front "S") The letters "JA" and also scored into the run-out groove, together, in a jagged formation that almost looks like a logo. Anyone else know what this means, by the way? Thanks, John

thought maybe the readers of the list would be interested in this article about "copyright": http://slate.msn.com/id/2084960/ even though the author gets a couple things wrong, (for instance, when discussing the 2 live crew's "pretty woman" deconstruction, it's claimed there was "little question" that it "threatened the original's commercial profits", which is ABSOLUTELY wrong) it's still a fairly good read and the correct conclusion is reached :)

Indie Top 20 Volume ...

Hi, everyone, "Indie Top 20" was a series of compilation CDs/LPs/cassettes which came out from (roughly) 1986 to 1996. In the early days it was all jangly pop, and bands like Felt, the Wedding Present and a hundred-and-one Smiths rip-offs. By the time Volume 8 was issued, in mid-1989, it was getting a little more groovy, with the appearance of the KLF, the Shamen, A Guy Called Gerald, the Stone Roses, the Inspiral Carpets and James - all on the cusp of national and international success. The compilations kept going (a few in the early nineties had KLF on them) until around 1996 (Indie Top 20 Volume 24 was the last one, I think) and by that time the bands featured - Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Elastica - were pretty much the same as appeared on normal chart compilations anyway. "Indie Top 20 Volume 12" contains "Last Train to Trancentral", not "Indie Top 20 Volume 6". Going by the rest of the tracks on there (things like "Big City" by Spacemen 3, the greatest Kraftwerk tribute ever) I would think it came out in 1990/1991. I remember having heard this CD years ago, and "LTTT" in particular. My memory is hazy, but at the risk of disappointing everyone, I remember it just being the ordinary "Pure Trance" version (i.e., KLF8R Remix 2). If it had been anything different, I would have bought it at the time. Still . it IS half a minute longer . Intriguing . John
