GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users FINALLY! We are almost cleared of snow in the parking lot. ALMOST. We still have a little work to do. The last storm was a big direct hit on the marina. And it brought much needed direct precipitation to the lake. Unfortunately it did not deliver much to the mountains. But today's storm did delver to the mountains and left us mostly unscathed. We are now 124% direct precipitation to the lake for the month and 80% snowpack for the GSL drainage area. Both these numbers are big improvements on where we were. But it looks like the storms are mostly over for December. (I know - a mixed bag of news). The previous storm, as I mentioned in earlier emails, left 1/8" of ice on all surfaces from the rain before it froze. That ice is still on the gangways and docks. It is also in areas of the parking lot although the parking lot has improved. When you come out to clear your boats of snow please be VERY CAREFUL. As mentioned before, we had an employee slip and break her ankle the other day. It will be awhile before we get this place completely cleaned up from the ice and snow. It looks like today's storm for the Great Salt Lake is mostly over. We may have a little bit of Lake Effect squalls come through but they should not bring much snow the marina. So the Bottom-Of-The-Pit Party should be a good one today. But be careful on the frontage road when coming out. It is still slick. The county has not come through yet to plow and salt. We did plow it ourselves. But our plow truck just doesn't do the job the county's plow can do.
