This has been a painful year for all of us in the Great Salt Lake community. Covid, low lake levels keeping us from our favorite pastime, and almost no snowpack for spring runoff so it is now necessary to even pull our boats from our beloved lake. Now, as the sailing community tries to move forward to pull boats and make other plans for sailing at other water venues, the forecast is not cooperating. We will have to watch the forecast very closely and make a final call tomorrow but it may be necessary to cancel crane days this week as the most current forecast is calling for winds 15 to 25 with occasional gusts over 40mph. The wind limit to safely pull boats is about 15mph. After that it can become too dangerous to try and control a boat dangling in the air from crane straps. I know everyone has made special arrangements with work and other schedules to make this crane day happen. I know how disappointing it is to even have to pull your boats. But I know we all want to do this difficult task safely. I will continue to look at the forecast and make a call one way or the other either tonight or tomorrow. Dave
