Margaret Dayton is not allowing SB151 to be heard in her committee. Unfortunately, this is the kind of representation we have. Please go to the URC link (in the email below) and sign the petition that you want this bill to be presented to the committee. And if you haven’t already written to the Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee for the additional funding for dredging, please do so quickly. We don’t have much time left! Janet Robins Commodore, GSLYC Hello Janet, I wanted to update you on the progress of our legislative advocacy this session and remind you of our lobby day tomorrow, February 16th, at 10:00 AM in the Presentation Room of the Capitol Building. We need to keep up the pressure on the Hill and we are currently working two bills, SB 151 and a "box car" bill we are fighting to fund Bear River Development which hasn't been released to the public. SB 151 Update SB 151 would reduce the property taxes you pay to water districts to conserve water, and conserve money. This bill is a win win for Utah residents as it will reward water wise citizens, while making water wasters pay their fair share for water. Unfortunately this bill is currently being held single handedly in committee by Senator Dayton who refuses to have any debate on the bill. If you know anyone in Utah County be sure to tell them that their legislator is preventing millions of Utahns from getting a tax break and urge them to contact her about this obstruction. Bear River Water Development Funding We are coming down to the wire with Bear River Development funding, and yet the bill text itself has not been released. The water lobbyists who want to put $50 million into Bear River development this session have been biding their time hoping the public would forget. Since all bills must be released within the next few weeks we need to make sure the Legislature doesn't fund this atrocity.
