2025 is shaping up to be a very big year at Great Salt Lake Marina for projects. These projects will help move the Park into the future and are good news. But there are some drawbacks to them also. First, dredging looks like it is on the calendar to happen this year. I don't have any other information than that at this time though. I should know more in about a month. Dredging could mean "wet" dredging in which the boats could stay in the marina while dredging happens or "dry" dredging where he boats would have to be removed. I don't know the method of dredging right now because a contractor has not been picked and method chosen. But the good news it this appears (at this time) that it will happen. Second (AND IMPORTANT NOTICE) is that we will be getting a new waterline to service the marina. The old water line has aged out and is not adequate for our needs, especially WHEN we have another fire out here. There has been a substantial amount of money that has gone into repairing the line and the company that supplies us with the water just doesn't think its feasible to continue to maintain. So a new water line has been funded and is in the final design phase. The new line should be going in sometime this spring or summer. THIS NEW WATERLINE WILL IMPACT HOW MUCH DRY STORAGE WE HAVE. We will be completely losing the storage area along the frontage road where the cell tower is. A water tank and pump building must be installed there and will take up all available space in that storage lot. This means all the boats in that lot will need to be relocated before the project begins. AND WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MORE STORAGE IN THE MARINA PROPER at this time. This means several boat owners will be losing their storage spaces. The plan is to notify owners who have NOT been paying for storage in the storage lots or parking lots that they must remove their boats from the marina. We will prioritize those that have been paying the monthly storage fees. Remember that the annual Polar Bear Clam Chowder Party is this Saturday starting around NOON. It will be over at my deck if the weather is good or over at the Cambria Room/Patio if the weather is inclement. I hope to have more information at that time or be able to answer any questions more specifically about these two projects. Thanks Dave
