NOTICE - NAVIGATION HAZARD During this low water year there is an increasing likelihood of encountering navigation hazards. We have located one of those hazards this weekend. This spring, while searching for a keel that had dropped off a boat in the DEEP CHANNEL we located an old boat wreck. This weekend, with the aid of a boat equipped with a side scan sonar and the fact that the water is so clear, we found out this wreck is much larger than originally thought. There is an old 45 to 50 foot wooden boat just southwest of the white WARNING buoy that warns those of the rocks jutting out from the breakwall near the observation deck. This wreck does jut out into the DEEP CHANNEL and it is very shallow. To avoid hitting this wreck stay well clear of the white WARNING buoy. Favor the side of the channel where the red buoys are during this section of the DEEP CHANNEL. And DO NOT try to cross the reef anymore. There are large sections of the reef that are only 2 feet deep now. Dave Shearer Harbor Master Great Salt Lake State Marina Antelope Island State Marina 801-209-9142
