GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users Sorry for the lack of weather reports since yesterday. When that storm barreled through here yesterday afternoon, a lightning strike took out a power pole. We have been without power for 25 hours. The building is very cold and typing is not easy right now. (Thanks to a generator, I have had heat and TV in my boat. After 10 years living in my boat I am used to, and prepared for these power outages). The storm brought strong winds, rain, hail and some snow. There is very little accumulated snow on the boat. Most of the snow that was here has now blown accross I-80 and is probably now in Magna. There is a fair amount of ice here though. The rain froze on the docks before the snow fell on it. As mentioned before, the snow is gone but not the frozen rain. Use caution when visiting your boats. There does not seem to be any boat damage at the marina. But you may want to venture out soon and check your circuit breakers (if you have a power slip). This is not something we do for you. Many choose to keep their breakers off. Others want them on. This is your responsibility to check. I would recommend you also check your scuppers or cockpit drains. We are expecting several storms over the next week. If this snow is heavy and your boat is not properly draining, you may have a sinking risk. We will do a thorough dock walk tomorrow and give an update.
