STORM DAMAGE - BOATS IN PARKING LOT
Earlier this week I sent out an email regarding Crane Day and boats in the parking lot. If you have a boat in the parking lot it is time to make some decisions. As I have said before, the parking lot was only meant to be a short-term solution for storage until we figured out what was going to happen with lake levels. Well the lake has come up now and boats can get back into the lake. To be honest with you, many boats and/or trailers in the parking lot, just aren't being maintained. Three of the boats that tipped over in the last wind storm did so because their cockpits were full of water. Once the strong winds hit, the extra weight in the back of the boats caused them to tip over backward. All three of these boats are now a hazard to the general public. We also need the parking lot space back for several reasons. So it is time to make some decisions about your boats that are in the parking lot. They must either go back in the water or they must be relocated someplace other than Great Salt Lake State Park. If the lake drops again and it is necessary to pull boats again we can revisit the storage question. But we can't continue to store the boats in the parking lot when they could be in the water. Thank you Dave
