Please join us for the final FREE GSLYC Seminar for the 2016 season... Our presenter will be Dave Shearer, the Harbormaster at the GSL Marina, and also the head of the volunteer Search and Rescue team at the GSL. Dave will be teaching us about boating safety on the GSL, and around the marina. The GSL is a unique body of water and presents many challenges not experienced on other lakes or the ocean. He will cover radio etiquette, how to call for help, how to report your position, along with many, many, many other boating safety topics. Also, there are many other users of the marina, that sailors need to be aware of - we have long distance swimmers, rowers, kayakers, paddle boarders - and a very large dinner boat trying to come in and out of the marina between a narrow range. Who has right of way??? Who can maneuver better than others? Remember - not only does Dave Shearer want us to be safe - he also doesn't want to have to come get us (nor do we really want to have to be rescued). We will also be drawing for the custom metal Ute sign (from all the entries over the past 10 weeks at the seminars) AND we will be holding the drawing for the custom metal Compass Rose wall sculpture (for all the people who have joined or renewed the yacht club for the 2016 season).
