GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. Wind gusts have just started here. Gusts are just hitting 40mph but the pressure is quite low and dropping. This is a significant low pressure coming in. Ridge top winds in the Sierra Nevada mountains have been hitting 150 to 200mph according to reports. Now I don't want to worry anyone but just a little reminder that our most violent storms in the last six years have always been in January or February. These violent storms have all exceeded 100mph wind gusts. Three years ago, on January 8th, the max wind gust at the marian was 214mph. Gangways were ripped from their mounts and flown across the parking lot. K dock was shattered. Catamarans were tipped over on L dock. I expect this storm to have gusts in excess of 80mph and very possibly break 100mph. Hurricane Force Warning continues until 10:00am tomorrow for the Great Salt Lake Marina area. Storm Warning continues for the Great Salt Lake until Sunday morning. I will keep you posted as electrical power allows. thank you Dave Shearer Harbormaster Great Salt Lake Marina
