if anyone feels bad, check out the rates at Strawberry... and no fun community of sailors, no events, very few sailboats... Some have faced frustration while others feel the increase is reasonable. For those that are frustrated, I understand. It has been a tough 10 years with the drought, pulling boats out and then putting them back in just to pull them out again. Yet inflation has also caught up with us. There has not been a rent increase in over 26 years. All the rate increases for the last four years have been aimed at the tourists instead of the slip renters. The last increase was when I put my Catalina 27 in the marina in 1998. That year, the rent went up $1/foot and has stayed there until now. The price for almost everything to run the Park has increased yet we kept rent frozen at 1998 rates in hopes of easing the blow of low lake levels. This is just not possible anymore. So here is what the rent increase is. We tried to keep it as modest as possible. Rent for slips are going up $1/foot as they did in 1998. Here are the new rates that are scheduled to start July 1st. 25’ slips (water only) went from $125/month to $150/month (winter rates went from $50/month to $75/month) 25’ slips (water/electricity) went from $150/month to $175/month (winter rates went from $75/month to $90/month) 30’ slips (water/electricity) went from $180/month to $210/month (winter rates went from $90/month to 105/month) 35’ slips (water/electricity) went from $210/month to $245/month (winter rates went from $105/month to $125/month) 40’ slips (water/electricity went from $240/month to $280/month (winter rates went from $120/month to $140/month) Secured dry storage went from $75/month ($50/month in the winter) to $80/month all year round Unsecured storage went from $25/month to $40/month The whole rate schedule can be found here: https://www.gslmarina.com/slip-lease-pkg Expenses to run the marina have gone up substantially, especially in the last four years. Insurance has nearly doubled each year. Fuel prices have increased substantially, Utilities (water, electricity, propane) have also increased substantially. Trash fees, toilet and other household supplies have also gone up substantially. And maintenance costs have gone up. I wish it wasn’t necessary to raise rates. But we cannot continue to operate on a fee schedule that was over 26 years old. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. I’m sure there are going to be a lot. Dave
