The bill is working its way up the Senate calendar, with a first vote possible by Friday, February 19, with the second (final) vote Monday, February 22.

The legislation would allow a 3-person panel of scientists – paid for by an effected industry– to conduct a “peer review” and possibly overturn Division of Water Quality rules - thus permitting sewage plants to exceed standards
for discharge of pollutant into the state’s waters, especially the Great Salt Lake.

The EPA has already warned, this bill would violate provisions of the Clean Water Act.
