I remember Dave well. I sailed with him on an FD he bought in the "Olympic Boat Regatta" out of St. Francis in San Fransisco bay. Still one of the most epic sails of my life. One day it blew 25 to 30kts most of the day. Several boats broke and we ended up second for the regatta, mostly due to attrition.

Dave didn't summit Everest but was the base camp's doctor. He had lots of cool artifacts from that trip.

It has just come to my attention of the passing of one of our Great Salt Lake and Utah sailing community members.  Dave Dingman passed away earlier this month.  Dave led an incredible life.  I remember racing against him many times on his boat DINGER, a Santa Cruz 27.

Dave was an avid sailor, pilot, canoer and kayaker.  He was also an avid mountain climber.  In 1959 he led a team to be the first in history to scale both of Mt. McKinley’s twin peaks in the same day.  He was also on the first American team to summit Mt Everest.  He is credited with rescuing four climbers during the descent.  His full obituary can be seen by clicking on the following link:  https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/saltlaketribune/name/david-dingman-obituary?id=31930487
