GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users.

 

On April 27th, 1pm at the Great Salt Lake Marina (Shop/office bldg.) we will be hosting the third in a series of seminars.  This seminar is hosted by State Parks and the Great Salt Lake Volunteer Search & Rescue Team.  The seminar on April 27th is as follows:

 

Marine Radio Communication and When Boats Meet in the Channel

·         Proper radio use

·         Radio etiquette

·         How to do a proper radio check

·         What channels can I operate on?

·         How do I do a MAYDAY Call?

·         What is a Pahn-Pahn?

·         What is a Securite?

·         What is the difference between a base radio and a hand held

·         What are the strengths and weaknesses of cell phones vs marine band radios?

·         How to take the SAR out of Search & Rescue

·         What is protocol and who has right of way when two boats meet in the channel.

 

This seminar will last about 1 ½ hours.
