GSL Slip Renters and Marina Users. It has been a long tradition for those hearty and brave sailors to get the first sail of the year in on Great Salt Lake New Year's Day. It is often a race to see who was the first to sail in the new year. Unfortunately that is not possible for many of us this year who merely have nothing more but cabins on the lake due to the low water year. But Captain Dave Ghizzone of Gonzo Boat Tours has an offer to get us out on the lake this year for New Year's Day. And it is an offer that provides an indoor heated cabin with large windows offering beautiful views of our inland sea! Captain Dave Ghizzone, of the cruise boat, Sunset, has offered a free cruise New Year's Day aboard his tour boat. Included in the cruise is an authentic Italian spaghetti dinner (Dave guarantees he has the best home-made spaghetti sauce this side of Italy). Seating is limited so please RSVP quickly to guarantee your spot on the Sunset. RSVP info to follow. For those that will be sailing your own boat the Sunset will be dropping anchor to allow other vessels to raft up. He will also be offering a shuttle service between the shore and the Sunset to accommodate those with limited time restraints. If available, Rescue One will also serve as a shuttle vessel to-and-from the Sunset. Captain Ghizzone is offering this cruise and spaghetti dinner free of charge although he would appreciate any donations you may wish to make to PanCan, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in memory of Lyle Solt, a good friend of Captain Ghizzone as well as an instrumental person in the boating community of Utah who passed away last summer.
