Dave.. Filling this lake has always been a hairsplitting kind of a thing once the explosive volcanic activity along the north end of the ancient bear river stream bed allowed, the salt lake basin to, capture the bear river drainage.... Well things got better.... but even then it took..... very many years.... to top things off - so... first it must snow up there on the bear - and even then we can only hope ''Idaho'' don't get smart and take the river back, or we are finished down here - I am betting on a wet March ''betting is not forecasting'' but a big bet can.. have the effect of making one.. pray thanks Frank On Friday, February 15, 2019, 10:55:58 AM MST, Dave Shearer <dshearer@gslmarina.com> wrote: Wow! One must just LOVE February! This month has really delivered much needed snowpack for the Great Salt Lake drainage area. Today we reached an important goal of 121% snowpack for the water year. That is where I estimated that we need to be in order to have a net-neutral year. And Bear River drainage is now at 114% This is very good news for us. It gives me some hope we will be able to keep the majority of the boats in the water this year with an outside chance that we might be able to keep ALL the boats in all year. But we are not home yet. We need this moisture to continue through the rest of February or March and even April. NWS is estimating we have an equal chance of being wet or dry. Accuweather is showing we will continue to stay in a wet cycle. In order to have a net positive year we need to continue seeing a snowpack of 125% with Bear River basin at least 110%. We have also had Direct Precipitation well above normal with a much wetter trend since January 1. It is hard to be optimistic over the last 20 years but there is some hope.
